Introduction to International Political Economy
Spring Semester 2015
[Course abstract] This course serves as an introduction to international political economy (IPE) and provides overview of several issues of international/domestic politics and economy. The course is divided into three parts: In the first part, we discuss three major theories of IPE namely liberalism, neo-mercantilism, and Marxism. The second part will discuss the history of the world economy and look into main components of IPE such as trading system, and financial system. The third part will focus on current issues including globalization, development, hunger/poverty, environment, illegal economic activities, etc.
